The goal of this project was to design an identity for a film festival highlighting the films of any director. For my film festival I selected Mel Brooks. In the naming process I thought of him as the king of comedy, which led me to use the catchphrase “Its good to be the king” from some of his films which I then used as the name for the event. I then set to work on making the actual logo for the event. I wanted to capture the comedy and fun loving side of Mel Brooks so I decided to take the sixth fingered hand from his hand print left at the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. Mel Brooks doesn’t actually have six fingers on that hand, he put on a glove which gave him a fake additional finger as a gag. The final touch was adding his name which was just adding his signature.
